Sometimes, less is more.
Valentine's Day was yesterday - 14 Feb, in the middle of the week, on a rather unromantic Wednesday. Me being me, had bravely informed the gf that I will bring her out for a nice romantic dinner at some yet unknown place.
Again me being me, had procrastinated making any bookings earlier and only started making calls on that day itself - yes ... you can roll your eyes. BUT, because of that, ironically, found a better place for dinner, without having to fork out exorbitant and inflated special Valentines' packages.
We went to Aburiya at Holland Village to indulge in plates and plates of meat. Nice juicy slices and cubes of beef, lamb, cooked over a nice charcoal pot. Especially yummy was the Wagyu rib cubes that though costs slightly lower than 4 Value Meals, was so yummy I would just survive on that for the whole meal.
Back to Valentines' ... a happy gf is one who has good food, and well, cook and served by the bf. After that yummy meal, we made our way to Wala Wala for some live music and drinks - to end a nice date.
Yeah it is a date since as I am quite guilty of not asking her out much...and again, no flowers. Though all girls love a rose or two, I find it impractical to give flowers. Romantic it is, but just a waste of money, especially on Feb 14. Prices are overly-inflated. I'd rather gift her a iPod Shuffle or a DS Lite ...
But that's me.
Oh yeah - about the title. Sucks that it's on a weekday. We had to end our date early so that we can go back to work. Marketers should campaign to switch Valentines' Day to say the second Saturday in February...that way they can inflate prices and con poor idiots into spending lots of money, and couples get to stay out late...
Anyway, Happy Valentines' Day dear...spending money on Wagyu beef wouldn't be so worth it if you weren't there to enjoy it. :)
PS: This is another entry that's probably posted much later than it should be. But it's me. I do what I can. :)
