The big match is this Saturday! Nope, not the one featuring the Reds against the Red Devils at Anfield. Yeah that rivalry is unmatched by other derby matches, but nothing will match the game at First Toa Payoh Secondary School tomorrow at 3pm.
According to our Manager AKM, our opposition will be bunch of young and fit army boys. And us, mid-lifers with bigger wallets and average higher BMI numbers. The last time we played on the full soccer pitch, it was more than one year ago where we got thrashed 1-3 against players who we according to our Manager, were taxi drivers. Unfortunately, they ended up looking more like sons of taxi drivers and gave us a good kick in the behind.
For us, games on Saturdays are restricted to the smaller field at St Wilfred Sports Complex where close control is more crucial than stamina, since we are conspicuously lacking in the latter. So tomorrow's match, will be a big challenge. Thankfully, a special "clause" of unlimited substitution for both teams will hopefully even out the disparity.
So, if you are bored, and want to watch some exciting football - do join us at the First Toa Payoh Secondary School tomorrow at 3pm. Bets may or may not be taken, but odds won't be reveal until the team sheet is... ;)
update Final score: 5-2 ... we didn't win.
