Malaysia lambasts Top Gear host

Saw this at BBC News today:

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has come under attack in the Malaysian parliament for labelling one of the country's cars the worst in the world.

The BBC presenter has been filmed attacking the Perodua Kelisa with a sledgehammer before blowing it up.

But minister Abdul Raman Suliman defended the nation's car industry, saying Mr Clarkson was like a football commentator who cannot play football.

First - let's watch that particular segment on Jeremy Clarkson's DVD Heaven and Hell released in 2005 where he covered the best and worse cars in 2005.

The M'sian car industry must really be in the doldrums to the point where the government must step in and dig out two year old DVD clips and complain about a TV show host's antics and comments!

On a final note - JC can drive. Probably much better than many. Go watch any Top Gear episodes and you'll know.

actually he can't. haha, last time got one episode where some driving legend coach captain slow and he said jeremy drove too aggressively. =) gimme some supercars and practice and i can do...hopefully as well.

of course if you give football commentators a football and some training, he can also play football! but that's not the point here mah.

if he can't drive as u said, Top Gear producers won't put supercars in his hands...not least a Kelisa.

thinktank:

The Malaysian Government can deny all they want. It should be call The United States of Denial for all we care. The truth is, Malaysian-made cars suck, even for the price people are paying. Protectionism is what keeps all the Ps (Protons & Perodua) "alive" till today. Loosen up those taxes & we'll see what happens. Politicians in Malaysia are all lapdogs to their upper lapdogs.
